Deleting "Cookies"

To delete a cookie:

1.  In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2.  This screen will appear:  If you want to delete  ALL  the cookies at once, click the Delete Cookies buttons.  The computer will ask for confirmation--click OK.  Your cookies will be deleted.  If you want to see the cookies first, so you can choose which ones to delete, click the Settings button, and then click View files.  (Click on each image below for an enlargement.)

3.  A Folder called "Temporary Internet Files" will open.  A huge list of files will be shown.  You can search through them for each cookie, but here's a faster way.  Click on "Type" at the top of the list. (See picture below.)  This will sort each file by its type.  Cookies are generally text files, so now you can scroll down to the T's (for Text) and your cookies will be grouped together.  Now you can easily pick and choose.  Click on the cookie you want to delete to highlight it, then click on "Delete this item" in the left hand panel.  You could also right-click on the cookie, and select Delete from the pop-up menu.

Notes

Not all cookies are bad.  Some Web sites store your member name

information the next time you visit the site.
